"Kuala Lumpur to Baitul Maqdis, 1 Ummah 1 Struggle"
PCOM 7TH ANNIVERSARY DINNER
"Kuala Lumpur to Baitul Maqdis, 1 Ummah 1 Struggle"
On 17th February 2018, PCOM has successfully held the special dinner with the Palestinian community in commemoration of the 7th Anniversary of the foundation of PCOM with Dato' Dr. Ashraf Wajdi, the Deputy Minister in the Prime Minister's Department as a representative of Malaysian Deputy Prime Minister, Dato' Seri Dr. Zahid Hamidi. The event also attended by the Ambassadors to Malaysia from Turkey, Yemen, and Iran besides other front leaders of Malaysian and Palestinian NGO, political parties as well as the government officers.
Speech delivered during PCOM 7th Anniversary on February 17, 2018:
on 14th February 2011, PCOM was launched with the presence of several Malaysian
leaders and figures. The trustees of
PCOM are from across the political spectrum and it is uniting Malaysians for
Palestine. Palestinians and Malaysians came together for one noble cause;
advancing the Palestinian struggle in Malaysia.
Special thanks to the
Trustees who are with us today, YB Datuk Abdul Latiff Mirasa, Dato’
Saifuddin Nasution Ismail and YB Mr Jismi Johari.
The Malaysian people have
always had the sympathy for Palestine. PCOM’s task was merely to help translate
this sympathy into instrumental action.
Over
the years, we witnessed a noticeable rise in the
engagement with the Palestinian struggle in Malaysia. This rise is not the work
of PCOM alone; it’s the result of the hard work of thousands of Malaysian and
Palestinian activists who dedicated the best of their times for this struggle; many
of whom are here with us tonight; May
Allah bless you all.
For
the years to come, PCOM will continue with the great projects as to ensure that
our vison and mission will be successfully achieve.
- Friends of Palestine will be launched soon aims to establish a platform for volunteers from various countries, stand together in this course
- PCOM also will launch the Research Center Training as a medium for all to get the sufficient information on the Palestine issue particularly.
- US President Donald Trump’s decision to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital
On
last December, Trump reversed decades of US policy by announcing the United
States recognized Jerusalem – home to major Muslim, our first qiblah and the
political capital of the ummah— He wants to make it as the capital of Israel
and would move its embassy there.
Nothing
worse than stealing our first qibla and the third holy place of Muslims. We are
firmly denounced this recognition. In regard of that, PCOM has joined a rally
led by the Honorable Malaysian Prime Minister YAB D.S Najib Tun Abdul Razak to
show solidarity, slamming the US decision to recognize Jerusalem as Israel’s
capital.
I
would like to quote his Excellency,
Dato’ Seri Mohamad Najib Abdul Razak’s statement during his speech,
“We are firm in our stand. We support the
formation of a Palestine that is free and sovereign. We demand a Palestine with
dignity and pride...”
2. Israeli attempts to find allies in the Arab world
2. Israeli attempts to find allies in the Arab world
The normalization between some Arab countries and
Israel which is so called “peaceful allies” is likely to further complicate
internal Palestinian reconciliation. It is time the world joins a global
campaign to isolate Israeli normalization. Let’s all join the BDS movement in
its peaceful efforts that clear with its principle underpinning BDS is
anti-normalization, or the rejection of business when dealing with Israel.
Brother & sisters,
I want to take this opportunity to thank all our
Malaysian friends; in both governmental and non-governmental institutions for
their dedication and endless support in serving the Palestinian struggle.
Terima Kasih semua!
Gaza termasuklah Perdana Menteri, D.S Najib.
Bagi pihak PCOM dan
rakyat Palestin di Malaysia, saya ingin menyampaikan setinggi-tinggi
penghargaan kepada Malaysia dan rakyatnya.
Kami berharap komitmen
Malaysia akan diteruskan pada tahun-tahun yang seterusnya hingga kita saksikan
bersama pembebasan rakyat Palestin.
Saya akhiri dengan serangkap
pantun;
Meniti senja bawah
mentari,
Merenung kuasa sang
Pengasih,
Jasa diberi kami
sanjungi,
Kami ucapkan terima
kasih.
